Most rose beds seen in Houston are raised. Why is that?
The HRS recommends that you plant your roses in raised beds. We sometimes get weeks of constant rain, and roses do not like wet feet. Raised beds help the water drain. Also, a good rose mix is much better for roses than our black gumbo. The HRS recommends that raised beds be at least four inches high. Six to eight inches high is even better.
