If you can’t even get your modem to dial, check to make sure that you are set to the correct com port (in the Modems control panel) and don’t have the wrong modem selected. Many times people unwittingly install more than one modem (i.e. they install a “Standard” modem and then they find the real drivers for their modem and install that before removing the other) and have selected the wrong one. Make sure this isn’t the case.
