Mooresville Graded Schools receive a special supplemental tax paid by Mooresville residents, so how come they need even more money?

The Mooresville Schools receive approximately $2.5 million in additional revenue as a result of a supplemental tax levied by the board of education. The monies from the supplemental tax pay for 28 additional teaching positions, local teacher salary supplements, debt service and building projects. The majority of the $2.5 million is spent on teacher salaries. Although some of the supplemental tax money has been and will be applied to building projects, the amount collected will not meet the facility need of the Mooresville Graded School District.
