Read on for this week’s hot topics: Dear Miss Manners, I recently read your column on tipping and I wanted to ask your opinion of a new wrinkle I have recently come across. At the salon where I’ve had my hair done lately, they have a sign that says “please enjoy our non-tipping environment”. I had not brought any cash with me on my first visit, as I usually add the tip in on the credit card slip, but this salon doesn’t allow that. I haven’t noticed any behavior from my stylist that would lead me to think that he is offended that I haven’t tipped; but I do wonder if it’s like those “no gifts please” invitations where the expectation is that everyone will bring something anyway.
