million Americans are enrolled in Medicaid. How many poor people does America have ?
According the the latest census numbers 45 million people living in America are living in poverty. 15 million of them are not legal Americans, so if we count only American citizens it would be just 30 million Americans. Since 40 million are enrolled in Medicaid, it appears many non-poor are enrolled in Medicaid. Plus many poor people are over 65 and enrolled in Medicare. Hard to imagine a poor person in America who lack coverage. Unless they are healthy and do not bother to enroll. Most people wait til they get sick before seeking health care.
