Might UTMB close or be moved to another city?
The University of Texas System remains committed to a successful, financially viable and responsible future for UTMB and to the advancement of its education, patient care and research missions (http://www.utsystem.edu/News/2008/BOR-Statement-UTMB-11-12-08.html). UT officials continue to refute long-standing rumors that UTMB will move to Austin or any other city in Texas. That said, UTMB is expanding clinical services to mainland Galveston County to meet the medical needs of the growing population in its primary service area.
