Microsoft Office and Adobe Type Manager conflicts?

0

We have gotten several reports of conflicts between Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Type Manager 4.0.x. Whether or not you see these problems seems to depend on exactly what version of ATM 4.0.x you are using – and whether or not it is ATM or ATM Deluxe (Deluxe appears to have less problems). Word 98 Michael Albright reports that Word 98 would freeze on launch, at the point where the “optimizing fonts” message appeared on the screen. Adobe told him they are investigating this issue and that others have reported it. Phil Bevans similarly could not get Word 98 to launch until he disabled ATM. He states that Microsoft confirmed a “conflict” and said that they are investigating it. PowerPoint Vic Stevens reports getting out-of-memory errors in PowerPoint. He was using ATM 4.0 at the time. When he shifted to version 3.9 (or disabled ATM altogether), the errors went away.
