Microsoft has changed its transfer terms and conditions. Does this mean customers cannot now purchase pre-owned Volume (Open / Select / Enterprise) licences?
No. Any changes made to a Volume ‘Licence Agreement’ and/or ‘Notice of Transfer’ form cannot legally prevent the resale of ownership. Amendments will only be able to restrict the transfer of the Licence Agreement / Product Use Rights under certain conditions. Note also that any future changes cannot be ‘backdated’ and so will not affect licences purchased prior to any changes. Furthermore, new processes have been developed by Discount-Licensing.com to ensure the resale of pre-owned Microsoft volume licences will continue indefinitely. The ‘pre-owned’ Microsoft software licence market is here to stay and will continue to offer businesses legitimate savings for many years to come.
