Michelle Obama labeled “Marie Antoinette” blocks off a beach in Spain, is her style too expensive?
Each day First Lady Michelle Obama stays in Spain, she faces more attacks from the critics for her lavish spending at a time when the U.S. economy is still struggling. Some critics have gone as far as calling Michelle a modern-day “Marie Antoinette,” the queen of France during the late 18th century known for living in extravagance while being absolutely ignorant to the struggles of her own country. After touring Marbella, Spain on Wednesday and Granada Cathedral on Thursday, the first lady carried on with her extravagant spending Friday afternoon. Mrs. Obama had the Spanish police close off a 100-yard stretch of the public beach, located outside the Villa Padierna Hotel, in order for herself, Sasha, and some friends to enjoy the sun and some swim time after a full day of sight-seeing.
