Mesh sounds a lot better. Is there a down-side?
Wireless mesh networks are comparatively rare in the business world, although they have been employed for military applications since the late 1970s. Setting up a mesh network takes some technical expertise, and because some of the available bandwidth is used for “behind-the-scenes” handshaking, performance may be slow. Mesh networks require smart routing algorithms; also there are some security implications, and in many cases a functional mesh network needs some wired infrastructure. Still, if you’re interested, some of the companies selling mesh products include Tropos, Crossbow, Qorvus, Proxim, Connect802 (MiLAN), and Mesh Dynamics.
