Medical records staff are receiving medical records from other providers, filing medical records, sending them to other providers, etc. How is this activity coded?
We have previously answered a version of this question as B1 (See Questions from Benton County Health Department, #3). That question related to receiving and process the results from the state for drug tests. Although it wasn’t clearly spelled out, “processing” included notifying the client of the results. Notification is following-up with a client of the results of a medical or diagnostic test and may include arrangements for further visits. This question is different because the staff is simply receiving the results and filing them. There is no contact with the client or further coordination of the client’s health care needs. Thus, this activity would be coded as “F”, Other Work Activities. We have a secured clinic now which was implemented mid June. Clients are not allowed to enter or exit or move throughout the building unescorted for safety as well as HIPAA reasons. This means they cannot access their services unless staff escort them. Would this count as a B1 MAC service? Many ti
