Media Advisory & Invitation – Gender equality in the boardroom: how far have we really come?

0

TORONTO, April 8 /CNW/ – Women have made great strides in carving a place out for themselves in today’s workplace, but many argue that Canada’s corporate boardrooms are still predominantly male dominated. Women, along with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, have much to offer the workplace including different opinions and experiences, which help enrich and enhance their competitive edge in this global marketplace. Yet women represent a mere 13 percent of the FP500 corporate board seats in Canada, according to a Catalyst report published in June 2008. This begets the question: how far have we really come on the issue of gender equality? The second of four in this luncheon series by KPMG and the WXN, is dedicated to fostering an open and candid discussion about the real story of gender equality and female advancement in today’s workforce in Canada. Join our Patron Host, Hazel McCallion, the first and longest serving mayor of Mississauga, along with our Moderator, Carol Toller
