Dear WetWebMedia Crew: Greetings. I read your Daily FAQs page several times a week. I thoroughly enjoy other people sharing their tanks with us and I thank you for making this possible. It seems that a lot of people have excellent tanks out there, and they work very hard at making them go. I have a very specific question that may not have a yes or no answer: do I absolutely need mechanical filtration on a marine tank? I searched the site and read through the sections on mechanical filtration and tank setup. I came away with the message that mechanical filtration is always advisable.
