Meal worms- Proper way to Gut load?

I would stick with using your own gut load, what you are doing is perfectly acceptable. The commercial gut loads tend to have too much calcium in them and it can actually kill your meal worms/crickets. On top of that it’s just cheaper to make your own and you know what you put in it. As long as your prey items were allowed to gut load for 24 hours you’re fine putting them back in the fridge. Taking them out a half hour ahead of feeding time just gives them time to warm up so they’ll move around, otherwise they’ll just sit there until they’re warm. Be sure to dust your prey items with a multi-vitamin as well as having a dish of pure calcium in your tank. I usually just leave a dish of mealies in my tank 24/7 so my gecko can eat at her leisure, just be sure you keep count of how many you put in. Sounds like you’re on the right track though. Good luck.
