May the test vacuum level be changed to accommodate a need for more rigorous testing?
The chosen vacuum level is adjusted by making a manual adjustment of both high and low control points at a convenient location on the front of the vacuum meter. The “low” limit sets the level at which the pump-down is terminated, while the “high” limit is the point at which the pump kicks back in to maintain the selected vacuum. Under normal operation, the pump will not reactivate more than once or twice for a second or two in a six-minute test. Vibration during solidification of the sample can have a definite influence upon the size and distribution of the bubble pattern in solidified samples. The equipment has the capacity to produce and hold a minimum vacuum of 15 Torr, if that is the desired test level.
