May professional development activities be initiated before the July 1 start of the performance period?
Except for cycle 1 of a potentially 3-year project, CaMSP professional development activities cannot cross fiscal years. For cycle 2 or 3 of a CaMSP project, professional development activities for the performance year must occur after July 1. If a project schedules intensive training prior to July 1, CaMSP funds cannot be used to pay for the presenters or stipends for the participants nor will the hours count as CaMSP hours.
