May get a new show pony/horse when the summer/spring show starts…what breed?
How much fun – I love horse shopping! I wouldn’t worry too much over a specific breed, but make sure your new horsey is a good personality match for you, especially if you’re trying something new. If you’re not necessarily continuing in an exclusively breed-driven show association, I cannot recommend European Warmbloods enough. I ride some hunter/jumper, mostly dressage and eventing, and I was a Thoroughbred advocate for years. I still love them to death, but for for quiet attitude and dedication to work (and because I don’t have quite as much energy as I used to), I have fallen in love with these guys….my current favorite is a Fresian, gorgeous mover and bomb-proof, but I think a Dutch Warmblood, or possibly a TB/Dutch cross would be something to consider. Quiet, sweet, gentle, and very athletic, and it’s possible to find them for reasonable prices, especially if you are open to a smaller horse – it seems like most folks shopping for a Warmblood like them on the tall side, so if you
