May current FERP faculty teach in Summer 2004?
It is possible for faculty who will begin FERP in Fall 04 to teach in Summer 04 under limited conditions. Contact Human Resources for questions about specific cases. Faculty who are already participating in FERP may not teach in Summer 2004, because self-support programs cannot be considered part of the academic year workload, which is required under FERP. When and how will it be determined whether a class is cancelled? Decisions on class cancellations will be made based on the course enrollment as of 5/21/04 (the last day of Open registration). Based on enrollment patterns from previous summers, it is expected that 90-95% of all students will have registered by May 21. Classes with less than 75% of the normal class size defined by the dean (approximating the enrollment for the class in Summer 03 or the normal enrollment in Fall/Spring if not offered in Summer 03) will be cancelled under normal circumstances.
