May a State use IDEA funds for recruitment and training of mediators?
Yes. Under § 300.370 of Part B of the IDEA, among the activities for which a State may use funds it retains under § 300.602 are recruitment and training of mediators. Specifically, funds may be used for support and direct services, including technical assistance and personnel development and training, and to establish and implement the mediation process required by section 300.506, including paying for mediators and support personnel. 34 CFR § 300.370(a)(1) and (a)(3).
