May a governmental body convene into executive session to discuss the appointment of individuals to an advisory committee?
No. A governmental body may not meet in executive session to discuss the appointment of members to an advisory committee because members of an advisory committee are not public officers. See Tex. Att’y Gen. Op. No. DM-149 (1992). See also Tex. Att’y Gen. Op. No. LO-94-63. But see Gov’t Code 551.0745 (executive session for county commissioners court to appoint members of advisory body).
