Maul is no longer on next attack… how does that work?
It’s basically like Mangle without the cooldown. Maul is now a button you can spam to deal damage, but instead of adding to your next attack, it simply deals damage in addition to your next attack… and quite a bit. Keep in mind that the current build of Cataclysm did not start my druid with a Feral weapon (so I am missing a rather large chunk of damage), but to put it into perspective – my Mangle(Bear)s were hitting for around 4k and my Mauls were hitting for around 5.5k. This is pretty significant when you factor in that that’s a LOT more damage than it used to do. Sure, it will hit that hard on the target dummy on Live, but you are forgetting that that is in ADDITION to your white-swing that it, for lack of a better word, assimilated; in Cataclysm, you can land a White Swing at the same time as that 5.5k Maul and deal almost 10k damage instantaneously.
