Mars Express has been operated in conjunction with NASA missions to Mars. Is there any plan for such co-operation at Venus, with NASA or other space agencies?
NASA is not directly involved in the Venus Express project in the way it was for Mars Express as there is no NASA mission to Venus planned in the near future. However, in March 2005, NASA selected 10 US scientists to participate in investigations using Venus Express data. The selected scientists will receive NASA funding. NASA’s Deep Space Network will offer communications back-up during the mission and we have a long lasting collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory on spacecraft navigation. The Deep Space Network will also support the radio science investigations.
