Mangini Connection: Could Browns Have Interest in Alan Faneca?
During the draft, Alan Faneca, the six-time All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowl guard of the New York Jets received a call from Rex Ryan informing him that he was being released. Faneca says he is upset with the Jets decision to release him and move forward with younger, unproven players. Eric Mangini was the head coach of the Jets when they signed Faneca and had the opportunity to coach Faneca in New York. To say that Mangini has taken on many former Jets is an understatement. Playing for the Browns would allow Alan Faneca to play against both of his former teams. The Browns play the Jets in Week 10 and play the Steelers twice. If Faneca is interested in coming to Cleveland, the Browns could certainly use a player of his experience and ability. Faneca has familiarity with the coaching staff and many of the players.
