Monday April 9, 2007Two New Reports Support MRIs for Optimal Diagnosis and Treatment Breast MRIs don’t use compression, and result in much clearer images. Mammograms must use compression to flatten breast tissue for imaging, and the resulting images are low-contrast. There’s a big difference in cost for these tests, and MRIs are not widely available. So if you’re being screened for breast cancer, which kind of imaging will be best for you? The American Cancer Society published new guidelines for breast M.R.I. which recommends breast MRIs for women who are at high risk for developing breast cancer.
