No, because Barletta never did any such thing. Although he does like to tell everyone that he did. The truth is that Barletta’s “Illegal Immigration Relief Act” was struck down by a Federal judge as being unconstitutional, over a year ago. Additionally, Barletta was unable to prove any of his claims that Hazleton was under attack from an “illegal immigrant crime wave”, in fact, just the opposite was proven. Finally, as a result of the legal defense that Barletta mounted, with city money but without city approval, Hazleton is now being suffocated by a huge debt.
