Lost Highway
Lost Highway is a 1997 psychological thriller directed by David Lynch. It is arguably an example of contemporary film noir, but with surreal imagery and themes. Lynch co-wrote the screenplay with Barry Gifford, with Angelo Badalamenti composing the score. Lost Highway is also notable for the last film appearances of Richard Pryor, Jack Nance, and (as of 2008) Robert Blake. Fred Madison (Bill Pullman), a saxophonist, is accused under mysterious circumstances of murdering his wife Renee (Patricia Arquette). On death row, he inexplicably changes into a young man named Pete Dayton (Balthazar Getty), leading a completely different life. When Pete is released, his and Fred’s paths begin to cross in a surreal web of intrigue, orchestrated by a crime boss named Dick Laurent (Robert Loggia).
