Looking for info on train travel between Shanghai and Ningbo?
Question: I’m trying to find information about traveling by train between Shanghai and Ningbo. How long is the trip? How frequent are the trains? How much does it cost? Any information from someone familiar with China’s train system would be welcomed! Thanks. Answer: Many trains connect Shanghai to Ningbo throughout the day, some direct, others departing from Nanjing or Jilin. The trip takes between 4 and 6 hours depending on the train, and cost anywhere betwen 50CNY (hard seat) and 80CNY (soft seat). I believe direct trains now leave from the new Shanghai South station but I am not totally sure since when I traveled there, it was before the new South Station opened and I departed from Nanjing (with a stop at Shanghai’s old station in Putuo).
