little charge is getting through the first resistor?
In a series resistance network (what we described in lecture) current is measured as the total amount traveling through the entire circuit so when the two potentials develop across the resistors this determines the current that runs through the whole circuit and will be the same at these two points (or anywhere else in the circuit).
