Once you’ve installed Java run “sudo /usr/sbin/update-alternatives -config java” and note any differences. If you now have additional Java options to choose from, choose the “java-#-sun” or “jre1.#.0_0#” depending on your distribution and installed java version number by entering the “Selection” number and hitting enter.
