This question has been raised many times before, and the answer has always been “no” or “there are better ways to filter email”. The list maintainers take this position. Some of the reasons are: o It would increase the size of the Subject: line. This is a problem, as it limits the amount of useful information that can be seen in the Subject: line, making it harder to scan through a list of subject lines looking for interesting subjects. o It doesn’t work for cross-posted messages, as the subject line for a single email will change depending on which list it was sent via. Not only can this confuse simple-minded filtering recipes, it can also break threaded mail readers (people may end up reading the same message twice).
