LightWave 3D [7.5] FAQs Dongle/Hardware Lock What is a parallel-port dongle?

A parallel-port dongle is an approximately 3″x2″x.75″ white plastic device with a pass-through parallel connection. It attaches to the serial port on the back of your computer (the same port you attach a printer to). Although you can use the pass-through feature to connect other parallel devices to the computer through the dongle, it is not recommended, as these other devices could cause a power spike that will damage the dongle. If you wish to use more than one parallel device, it is recommended to use a parallel-switching box, available from most computer or electronics stores. Although NewTek still supports the parallel-port dongle on most operating systems, we have shifted production to the newer, more convenient, USB-port dongle. Last update: 22.10.
