Lichens on short-rotation coppice wood?

It’s worth noting that although lichens have reputations for being slow-growing, this is not true across-the-board, and there is a well-known suite of fast-growing species which can colonize quickly –hazel is a favourite substratum for many of these. Coppice-wood of anywhere between 3-7 years is likely to support an interesting suite of species, despite its youth. Older coppicewood and timber with intact bark is also a likely source for us.
