Lean Champions – How do you develop a ‘Lean Champion’ to continue sustainable improvements?
The MAS-SW will initially run an ‘Improvement Programme’ with a group of employees representing all areas of the company selected to implement lean manufacturing techniques. In many groups a ‘Lean Champion’ will emerge or be appointed. Lean Champions tend to show a higher level of interest in lean activities compared to their peers and have the ability to motivate people and take ownership of initiatives. Often unhappy or frustrated with the status quo within the organisation, they tend to be more progressive in their thinking and have an ongoing commitment to change. They also have the ability to generate management support and build confidence in the ‘Lean Journey’ for their company.
