Last question… does the bible not preach tolerance to all men…?
The Bible does not, I repeat, does not preach tolerance to all men – not in the way that modern society “understands” this word. Frequently tolerance seems to be confused with the word temperance. A person can not tolerate something without first being strongly opposed to it. A person redeemed in Christ Jesus can not actually tolerate what God abhors. Now, this does not mean that the Christian has the right to take the law of one’s country or the law of God and execute it themselves. God is fully capable of executing perfect justice. He has and He will. There is a big difference between discriminating and hating and I think you know that. “Contrary to Christian faith to discriminate”? God has clearly stated that the fool has declared in His heart that there is no God. Is the fool someone living a life of obedience before God? No, of course not. That is to discriminate right there – one seeks to love God; the other does not. Is the Christian to hate the one God has declared a fool? No,
Speaking truth does not necessarily mean that we hate or discriminate. I do not hate my fellow man at all, if I did, I would never share the gospel and love of Christ. The reason I do is because I care. The Bible actually does not teach tolerance. Tolerance means that we “tolerate” things that should not be tolerated. Loving the person is different, and that I chose to do. Example- I knew someone once that was cheating on her husband. She is a Christian. I told her that what she was doing was wrong- but I chose to stand by her and love her. She asked me to watch her kids one day when she went to meet this guy- if I had done that I would been tolerant of her sin.
Honestly…I just think the bible is whacked. Just a random collection of stories…and I don’t see why people base their lives around the thing. It couldve been written by a bunch of drunkards. And alot of people of faith have suprisingly narrow views and tolerances considering they base their entire lives around a religion and god they have no proof exists.
Hate and tolerance are two different issues and it is hard to explain, but there are those that it is alright to hate and we are not to tolerate all things. But, to know when to do which is very hard and so it is better to focus on ones own relationship with God and let him lead you to those that he wishes so that you may have a positive influence on them.
