There are many stories and legends about the Bird Cage Theatre, almost as many as there are about Doc himself. Doc killing anyone inside the Bird Cage is yet another myth to add to both collections. What many people (especially filmmakers) tend to forget about the historic Bird Cage Theatre is that it opened in on Christmas Day of 1881, almost two full months after the famous “OK Corral” street fight. The Earps and Doc Holliday left Tombstone in March of 1882. This isn’t to say that the Earps or Doc didn’t visit the theatre in those three months, only that there are no records of any serious altercations involving them during that time.
