Yes use external monitor while your LCD panel is in for repair make sure the LCD cables are taped up and not shorting against the – Volts Earth of the chassis of the laptop screen housing and remove the inverter from the LCD data cable or Laptop motherboard wire looming, why well just to be sure the inverter does not get confused and turn on without the proper load from the CCFL.
