Lakes near Point, Texas, safe for swimming?
Question Someone told me that there are several lakes near me that are not safe for swimming. I guess due to pollution or bacterial problems. I live in Point, TX. Are there any lakes around here that are not safe to swim in….is Tawakoni safe to swim in? ….What about others near here? Answer The Sabine River Authority monitors water quality in Lake Tawakoni, Lake Fork, and the Sabine River. While some of the small tributary streams have shown some problems with elevated levels of fecal coliform bacteria, the lakes and river are safe for swimming. The Sabine River Authority does not monitor water quality in the numerous privately owned lakes in the area and the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission has not listed any of the privately owned lakes in their report to the EPA.
