Lake trout body condition is great in Blue Mesa- whats the problem?
Blue Mesa’s larger lake trout continue to exhibit extreme body condition. However, while body condition can bean important index of prey availability, we cannot wait for its downturn to alert us to a prey shortage. Any decline in lake trout relative weight would lag far behind the severe downturn in prey abundance or availability, and by the time it is observed it may be too late for the prey populations.
