Ladies, does anyone else get a swelling under their armpit just before their period?

What you are experiencing is a swolen lymph node. These occur for countless reasons. They usually occur whewn they are fighting some sort of bacteria or infection. In extreme cases they are cysts that may contain cancer. However, swolen lymph nodes under the armpit during times when your hormones are high are quite common. Your armpits contain the same sweat glands that are located in your reproductive area…exocrine glands. These glands are rather active during your period because of your hormone levels rising and falling….I assume that your lumps are just a cause of hormones. I have had then before a few times but it’s usually caused by shaving or using a certain deodorant. I’d say you are alright but if it is extremely uncomfortable and the swelling is quite large then I would maybe contact your doctor…even just a small phone call I’m sure they can help you. Other than that I would say no worries but just keep an eye on it. Good Luck!

Your breast tissue extends up into both your armpits, so it is not unusual for breast tissue to become engorged just before a period. This is caused by hormones and is quite normal. If however, you have any doubts, you should go and have a word with your doctor and I am sure she will be happy to explain it to you.
