Keyboard and touchpad are not working on my acer aspire laptop, which has windows vista?

My Acer Aspire 5410 keyboard and mouse-pad are not working, i restarted my computer and when it came back on my keyboard and my touch-pad are non responsive. I have windows Vista on my computer. I am not sure whether it is my laptop or Windows that is the problem. I have tried taking the batter out and putting it back in but this does not change anything. Is there anything else i can do to fix this problem without taking it back to the store where i got it from? Any answers would be help-full, Thanks 🙂 P.S I have plugged in a mouse and separate keyboard and they are working fine.
