Just one question, does Indian 3G works with Kindle. I am from Delhi, so can I use MTNL 3G Service for free ?
Spent about an hour checking this. Read on, for the interesting info: I borrowed Kindle from a friend. I tried it in an area in Delhi, India where an Apple iPad user could use MTNL 3G: 1. I pressed the Menu button on the Kindle. This shows the type of network alongside the signal bars. It showed EDGE. 2. I went to Menu>Settings and typed 611. This shows cellular network information. The Network Name was Airtel ! So Kindle did not switch to MTNL 3G automatically. Instead it preferred Airtel. 3. Next, I typed 311. This allows to switch to a different cellular network provider. Guess what, I could see IN-DOLPHIN (3G). But Kindle could not connect to it Bottom line: Kindle does not seem to use MTNL 3G.
