Is this something that is taught at the education colleges or did someone write about In response to this I can only add MY perspective. I think we all have our own personalities which we contribute to our classes–some may be more formal with kids; some may teach younger kids that prefer more childlike instruction. I teach 13 year olds mostly and they are still children trying to flow into a grown up body. I find that they ALL love to get new names just as much as they ALL seem to enjoy learning a new language for the first time–at the beginning of each year. When I announce at the first few days that we will all have a Spanish/French name, smiles immediately come on faces. There may be some who do not like their names but that can be worked around. IF there is a major problem for them I have no hesitation to change it and think we need to be flexible in this regard. BUT I do feel that the foreign language learning environment is more REAL when REAL foreign names can be used within t
