Jesus saves the Christians. Does Buddha save the Buddhists?
Buddha doesn’t “save” anyone in the same sense that Jesus does. He gave the world the tools to save itself: his teachings. By being compassionate, kind, generous, and focused on the good, you save YOURSELF from being reborn into naraka (the equivalent of hell) or being reborn as an animal after death. Of course, the ultimate “salvation” in Buddhism is to become enlightened like the Buddha himself was, completely free of pain and suffering and never having to face rebirth again. Ever. On the other hand, you have Jesus who I would say “actively” saves you. As long as you believe in him, do his work, and live his teachings you’re guaranteed a spot in heaven. So there you go, I hope this answers your questions. I just recently jumped ship to Buddhism though, so take everything I say with a grain of salt.
Yes, however, Jesus and Buddha did not just save Christians and Buddhists but, all of us. Jesus, the Beloved Son of God and Buddha’s God’s truthful Messenger both had the same mission to restore peace, truth, faith, hope, rightousness, devotion, and love to the Lord. The only difference is that they came down during different time periods and two different place. This is because in during those time periods, the root of sin and untruth were in those places. However despite them arriving in different places, they still came to serve the Lord in the same world for benefit of all living entities.
