Jesus obeyed the Father in every detail, even when disobedience never once crossed His mind! His Fathers response?
“This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17). This is one instance where all three members of the Trinity are present (Matthew 3:16-17). In summary, Jesus did it not for His own need, but for our example an example of obedience to His heavenly Father, who surely smiled that day! • Just what is “baptism?” Good question! As we mentioned in the introduction to this F.A.Q., at Grace Church, we define baptism as “the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace.” It points to our greater relationship with Jesus Christ, like a wedding ring points to the greater reality of a lifetime commitment in marriage. In short, it is a public testimony that I, as a baptismal candidate, have placed my faith and allegiance in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It means that I now desire to turn away from any behaviors or attitudes that are unlike Christ, and to become a fully-devoted follower of all He stands for!
