Jeremiah Wright: What Makes Him Weirder or More Dangerous than Pat Robertson?
The whole flap over Barack Obama’s association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright is sadly predictable, partly given that the current presidential campaign has been going on for years now and most Americans are tired of hearing about it. So the corporate media are prowling for new controversies to beat and frighten us with and this is merely the latest (there will be more). The Radical Right (read Fox) has gone out of its way to attack Obama for his relationship with Wright but all of them are guilty of exploiting the fear factor of white America- the same one driving the immigrant witchhunt. It’s evident that the corporate media- CNN, Fox, the networks, major newspapers- are frightened of Rev. Jeremiah Wright because he reminds them of blacks and other minorities from the 20th Century civil rights movement who won’t sit down and shut up when told to.
