I can only assume it is your pseudonym that is evoking such a hostile response from the JWs! You ask a reasonable question, but in this case, I’m quite sympathetic to the JW stance of conscientious objection to war. We do not live in Old Testament times. But there is a difference between living in light of the ways of Christ and annexing the OT almost completely. This is where the JWs fall down. The way in which God deals with sinful humanity is through his covenant relationships. Israel was his chosen people and God fought their battles whenever they kept their side of the covenant requirements. Separating his people from all the pagans around them was a vital part of preparing the way for the Church of Christ, which has to be in the world but no part of the world. Israel fell down by having human kings. The Church must have no King but Christ, and he fights on their behalf in a spiritual sense now. The Church is in the New Covenant, in Christ’s shed blood.
