Jehovahs Witnesses, and others – Why do people claim not to use Gods name Jehovah, because of pronunciation?

You nailed it. Their flimsy argument collapses because they pronounce Jesus’ name incorrectly – whom they believe is God – but won’t pronounce the divine name because “it’s incorrect.” For the record: both “Jesus” and “Jehovah” ARE the correct pronunciations in *English.* Since most people don’t speak Hebrew, it shouldn’t matter to them how any name is pronounced in Hebrew. Perhaps people who don’t know the original Bible languages fail to realize that English transliterations of Bible names do NOT sound the same as the originals. Usually consonants and vowels undergoe changes from the original language into English. Many times there are a different number of syllables. Usually a different syllable is stressed in the name. Take the “preferred” form of the divine name: Yahweh. Most pronounce it YAH-way. Yet in Hebrew it should be pronounced yah-WEH (The “eh” sound is the same as in “pet”). In other words, those who *insist* on the form “Yahweh” don’t pronounce it correctly themselves. N
