Repair Brief #65: Aiwa CSD-707 Boombox CD Player – Doesn’t Recognize CDs). “No, this is mine. Fell off a window sill. The radio doesn’t work.” OK, sure bring it by….. So, a couple weeks later, Jeff walks in with this vintage boombox. You really want to fix that thing? It is also an Aiwa, but probably at least 15 years old. “Yep, I opened it up but didn’t see anything wrong.” Sure Jeff, open it up again. “A couple of the screws are missing and one of the plastic post thingies broke off in the fall.” Right….. At first, there didn’t appear to be anything obviously broken so I decide to power it up (after all, Jeff had already done this so the additional risk is minimal). Fortunately, it can be powered easily with the two halves of the case separated. Sure enough, the radio is dead as a brick. Pressing and prodding produces absolutely no change. Then I notice something… Uh oh, it looks like the corner of this circuit board is cracked off. OK Jeff, you will have to remove it and it do
