Jay Aston only recently rejoined the band, after 24 years – how did that come about?
We did a programme called Pop Goes Back and Jay was reintroduced to us and it was really nice. There’d been so much muddy water under the bridge, really ugly stuff and we got back together and talked a lot and realised a lot of that muddy water had been made up by other people. It was like Chinese whispers. But the unfortunate thing of all this was, I was working with Mike and Shelley Preston at the time and it was difficult for Shelley to accept Jay back into the fold. So unfortunately she decided she didn’t want to be a part of the group anymore. It was really sad, I’m very sorry about that. But the gigs we have now are with Jay, so a lot of the fans are thrilled. You’ve got your first show with Jay tomorrow night (May 16th), haven’t you? We have, it’s the first public one with Jay back, so it’s a big one. It’s at GAY in London and we have a huge gay following, so I think it’ll be rammed to capacity. I think they’ll go wild because Dame Jay of Aston’s back! And it’s Eurovision tomorr
