Januarys CBB5 series was highly controversial and I heard talk about the format being cancelled. So, will there be any more more series of Big Brother in the UK?
Yes, definitely. Big Brother has been the summer’s big ‘hit’ TV show for the past for seven years, and the viewing figures for Big Brother 7 last year were great. Therefore, Big Brother 8 – set to take place within a matter of days now – will definitely go ahead. We’ve been saying for a long time that as long as the public still want to watch Big Brother, there’s no reason to cancel it. Indeed, we suggested that the show could run for 10 series/ years, and perhaps even longer? Well, Channel 4 obviously agree with us, as the show was re-commissioned late last year for an extended period. Please see this story from December 2006 for more details Whether there’ll be any more short-format Celebrity versions of the show or not, is debatable. It’s entirely possible that C4 will lay-off those for a year or two, so there may not be another series featuring celebrities for a while. We’ll just have to wait and see.
